Fujian's auto parts exports increase 42.1% in January '07

According to Fuzhou (capital of Fujian Province) Customs statistics, Fujian's export volume of auto parts were 319.14 million U.S. dollars in 2006,with an increase of 17.5% over the previous year, in January this year, exports amount reached 33.47 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 42.1%. The main exports destinations were the United States, India, Japan, the EU and Malaysia.

Sources said that in the past few years, the Fujian auto parts export maintained good momentum. TNCs have transferred labor-intensive auto parts products to low-cost countries including to China, meanwhile, they strengthened the effort of purchasement in China, for example, to set up production and parts procurement network, to integrate China into their global business networks and supply production to every corner of the world; on the other hand, after several years of development, the cost-efficient and low cost domestic products are fully comparable with those of Europe and the United States, and they are becoming more and more highly competitive in the international market.
