Government to make Guangxi auto production base

Shanghai, August 5 (Gasgoo.com) The Guangxi province located in Southern China will serve as a large-scale auto production base for the country by 2012, Xinhua New Agency reported Tuesday.

According to the industry development plan released by the provincial government, the automobile industry's output value of Guangxi will hit 160 billion yuan ($US23 billion) by 2012, with an added value of 30 billion yuan in this industry.

Output of finished vehicles will reach 1.35 million units, with some 250,000 of them as sedans and small family cars. Engine output is to top 2 million units within four years.

The current major auto-making and auto-parts enterprises in Guangxi province include SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co, FAW-Liuzhou Special Auto Works, Yuchai Group and Guilin Bus Industrial Group.
