South Africa is an economic power house in Africa, maintaining a steady economic development in recent years, the total population is 47 million, but there are more than eight million vehicles. Since last year, China's auto brands have become very competitive newcomers with relative low price in South Africa; especially Chongqing Chang'an minivan debuted in Johannesburg and other big cities on advertising and media as well as sales dealers. According to figures provided by the South African embassy's Commerce Office, Chongqing Changan minivan exports to South Africa over 2000 units in 2006, Xiamen Kinglong and Beijing Auto bus have been sold nearly 300 units in South Africa.

It is reported that Geely Group is preparing to enter the South African market, too.
