Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd is expected to launch self branded sedan next year

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd (DPCA), co established by Dongfeng Motor and France's PSA Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company will launch at least 8 new models from 2007 to 2009 and is expected to launch a self branded sedan next year.

Liu Weidong, general manager of the company, said: "DPCA is not anxious about brand development, instead, three steps is under way. Firstly joint R & D and then forming self owned intellectual property rights, and finally the launch their own brands. Peugeot 307 in Iran started operation last year also partly owning intellectual property rights. DPCA received more than 750 million intellectual property right payments, which is the first in the domestic automobile industry. " In fact, DPCA self brands program started three years ago and is expected to be launch by the end of 2008, which will play an important role for joint ventures to promote self brands.

Recently, DPCA issued the first report on sustainable development of auto industry enterprises in Beijing. The report disclosed that in 2006 the company sale of 200,000 units marks an historic breakthrough, an increase of more than 40% as well as a costs reduction to10 billion in resource conservation, and environmental protection. More than 90% of material such as metal, glass, liquid, plastic, rubber are harmless disposed or can be easily recycled, components are more easily disassembled. In addition, last year a total of 20,000 to 30,000 hybrid vehicles sold to Southwest, Northwest of China. This year, DPCA will further accelerate the development of new energy vehicles.
