Baidu, UCAR team up to promote autonomous vehicle commercialization
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Baidu Inc. and UCAR Group, a Chinese app-based chauffeured car services provider, reached a strategic partnership on August 29. Both parties will develop in-depth cooperation in vehicle intelligent connectivity and autonomous driving.
Under the strategic agreement, UCAR aims to intelligentize over 1 million cars by installing self-developed OS (operating system) and the IoV (Internet of Vehicles) products from Baidu on the foundation of Apollo autonomous driving platform. Besides, both companies will join forces to explore the commercialized operation for the self-driving fleet with around 100 thousand cars in order to push the commercialized application integrating autonomous driving technologies and sharing mobility services.
Robin Li, chairman and CEO of Baidu, said that the collaboration between Baidu and UCAR aims to further speed up the commercialization of autonomous driving technologies and sharing mobility services and facilitate more people's life with intelligent human-vehicle interaction and self-driving technologies.
Reportedly, the cooperation between two companies will help them develop the scale utilization of self-driving technologies and relevant application scenarios with a high degree of interdependence. The Chinese Internet titian Baidu intends to expedite the iteration of its self-driving technologies by virtue of UCAR's complete big data of high-class human-vehicle ecosystem.
