Ford Motor tests C-V2X capable cars on public roads in China
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the World Internet of Things Exposition 2018, Ford Motor showcased its C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) technologies for intelligent-connected vehicle (ICV) in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, the automaker announced on September 17. This is the first time that Ford Motor demonstrates its C-V2X technology in China.
C-V2X technology is a wireless communication solution that could make vehicles, road infrastructures, pedestrians as well as other traffic participants connect with each other using an identical information language. The technology is able to help enhance vehicle driving safety, improve the traffic efficiency and boost the development of autonomous vehicle technologies.
In May this year, a new conference held in Wuxi announced that Wuxi will build the world's first city-level LTE-V2X Internet of Vehicles (IoV) application demonstration area in which Ford Motor also involved. The U.S.-based automaker will further evaluate the performance of its C-V2X technology through the technical tests on public roads and eventually use it in vehicles.
Cooperating with such technology companies as Huawei and China Mobile, Ford Motor will employ the C-V2X technology to research and develop various application scenarios, such as V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure), V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) and V2P (Vehicle-to-Pedestrian), based on Chinese road conditions and drivers' driving behaviors.
