Horizon Robotics, Shouqi Limousine & Chauffeur agree partnership at Auto Shanghai

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China-based AI chip maker Horizon Robotics announced its strategic partnership with Shouqi Limousine & Chauffeur, a leading brand in China's ride-hailing service industry, at Auto Shanghai 2019.

Under the cooperation, the AI startup will provide vehicles operated by Shouqi Limousine & Chauffeur with its intelligent in-car terminal. Using the self-developed AI chips and the algorithm tailored for ride-hailing service industry, Horizon Robotics is going to modify the traditional rear-view mirror into an intelligent car-borne facility that integrates such AI functions as ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), DMS (driver monitoring system), facial recognition and voice recognition.

In the future, both parties will strengthen the cooperation in AI technologies in the wake of the launch of the AI startup's second-generation chip. Powered by the next-generation chip's strong computing ability, low power dissipation and high flexibility, the deepened collaboration will help the in-car system's sensing ability over surroundings greatly enhanced, so that drivers can get more safety instructions.

Besides, they are going to explore new cooperative opportunities in other areas such as high-precision positioning and map update.

At the auto show, Horizon Robotics launched its strategy “AI on Horizon” that will make the company focus on the construction of the basic technology platform consisting of edge AI chips and toolchain to offer the industry its “AI chips with ultra-high cost performance, extreme power efficiency, open toolchain, rich algorithm sample models as all-round energy-injection services”. 

Horizon Robotics has an executive team with the ability to develop algorithms, software, hardware, processors, and cloud infrastructure. In December, 2017, it released the Journey 1.0 edge AI vision processor which is able to simultaneously monitor and identify pedestrians, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles, lane lines, traffic signs, traffic lights and other types of objects in an accurate and real-time manner, targeting L0-L2 high-performance ADAS.
