Great Wall Motor unveils all-new intelligent connectivity strategy on July 15

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor launched its all-new intelligent connectivity strategy “GOT” (GreatWall Totally Online) on July 15 to solve the pain points for functional applications on vehicles and restructure its mobility service system.

At the launching ceremony, the automaker also announced its partnership with eight companies, including Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Mobile, Huawei and Qualcomm, to jointly build the GTO smart ecosystem and develop 5G&AI-based experience-driven robots that can offer users full-lifecycle mobility services.

One of highlights for the brand new strategy is the introduction of cutting-edge 5G and AI technologies. Limited by the relatively slow network speed and weaker algorithm, vehicles currently delivered on the market are not intelligent enough. Some smart functions are unworkable or slow on the draw in areas with poor network services or even without Internet signal, which will lead to terrible experience for users.

The inadequate processing power will affect the whole software ecosystem not only slower the in-car system's turning-on speed or the downloading efficiency for multimedia and navigation systems, the automaker said.  

Besides, lack of efficient solutions is also one of the factors that impede conventional vehicles' improvements on comprehensive abilities. Since a solution was formally designed for an exclusive automobile field, OEMs were confronted with the deficiency in data structure due to shortage of a uniform planning and data interaction, hitting hurdles for improving products and personalizing services.

Great Wall Motor said using cutting-edge technologies is a crucial method to effectively promote the upgrade of mobility service experience. At the CES Asia 2019 last month, the automaker made its appearance with a range of futuristic technical products, such as smart pixel headlights, on-board diagnostics system and intelligent cockpits.

In a bid to boost the reform of intelligent connectivity technologies and fade the traditional in-car functions into history, Great Wall Motor will mobilize the initiatives of the whole industrial chain and knock through such segments as R&D, manufacturing and sales to provide users with more powerful services, the carmaker previously said (Photo source: Great Wall Motor's WeChat account).
