GAC NE’s Aion X to carry the first Chinese-spec HD map available for delivery

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC NE, the NEV arm of GAC Group, announced on Mar. 4 the first Chinese-spec HD map (high-definition map) available for volume delivery will be introduced into the Aion LX, help the BEV become the world's first model enabling level 3 autonomous driving feature.

The HD map will be integrated into ADiGO 3.0, GAC Group's self-developed autonomous driving system. The Aion LX powered by level 3 system is said to be delivered from the early July, according to a local media report.

As one of most critical technologies to essentially realizing “driverless”, HD map serves as a car's eyes and ears similar to that of human beings, endowing the autonomous driving system with the capabilities of smart decision-making, accurate positioning & sensing as well as forward-looking judgement.

The HD map's positioning accuracy reaches 10cm, versus the meter-level precision for traditional maps. It is able to demonstrate a tridimensional world, which is precise enough to display the data about a lane's gradient, curvature, heading and tilt, GAC NE explained the merits of HD map via its WeChat account. It is in all likelihood that the automaker was touting the capabilities of the aforementioned China-version HD map.

The introduction has not finished yet. The EV maker still mentioned the HD map can prejudge the situation at most 1 kilometer ahead by virtue of multiple cameras and sensors. It sounds like the car has clairvoyance.

To boost auto consumption during and after the epidemic fight, Guangzhou municipal government has decided to grant NEV buyers subsidy of RMB10,000 per car. On that basis, GAC NE announced an additional subsidy of RMB10,000 per car to consumers who buy the Aion S BEVs in the capital of Guangdong province (photo source: GAC NE).
