Based on the Linux and Android operating systems, the new onboard system will work as a replacement of the existing MIB and CNS infotainment systems. Through a dedicated account system “SVW ID”, users are given one-click access to logins of their in-car infotainment system, mobile phone applications and WeChat account.
The new system offers over 30 innovative functions that involve five aspects of vehicle control, voice assistant, navigation, recreation and daily trip, an executive at SAIC VW said at the launching ceremony.
To be specific, the new system can help a user promptly find out his car at a parking lot via an online pinpoint or making the car honk and flash lights. It will warn of speeding driving to a driver who sets the speed limit on SAIC VW's App, and inform him of malfunction risks in his car. Besides, a user can remotely check his car's status and lock/unlock car doors.
By virtue of such technologies as online voice recognition, natural language understanding and speech synthesis, the system enables a driver to control the vehicle-mounted communications facilities, entertainment, navigation and air-conditioning systems through voice commands.
The navigation feature will provide users with precise information about real-time road conditions, congestion of urban arterial roads and traffic restrictions. It also supports the online map update, the search of POI (point of interest) and road condition forecasting. Part of the function is from the joint efforts with AutoNavi.
Moreover, consumers are permitted to enjoy a great deal of music and radio resources from such applications as Koowo and Ximalaya.
Other services about daily trips contain intelligent parking, traffic violation query, traffic fine payment, maintenance appointment and weather broadcast.
The newly-launched system will be introduced in the new Tharu and the Viloran MPV, which is to hit the market on May 28, and get into more models including the MEB-based BEVs next year (photo source: SAIC VW's WeChat account).
