Alibaba-backed Banma, FAW-Volkswagen to team up on AI, big data, smart cockpit

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the Apsara Conference 2020 of Alibaba Cloud, Banma Network Technology Co.,Ltd. and FAW-Volkswagen inked an agreement to conduct strategic cooperation on such areas as AI, big data analysis, ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle)-related operating system and intelligent cockpit.

Under the agreement, two parties will co-build a product team to jointly map out the IoV (Internet of Vehicles) product plan and work on the design works, in a bid to constantly push ahead with the iteration for digital vehicles.

With the assistance from Banma Network, FAW-Volkswagen will bolster the construction of its big data model and data middle platform—a logical concept raised by Alibaba that aggregates and governs cross domain data, encapsulates data into services and provides business value to the front desk, and improve its data governance.

Besides, two companies will team up on exploring digital marketing models and hammering out omni-channel marketing strategies.

“Both FAW-Volkswagen and Banma Network are distinguished companies in their respective fields. Their collaboration will imbue products with high values, offer users all-new experience of using digital vehicles, so as to help China's automobile industry usher in new era of digital vehicles and set an innovative example of cross-industry integration between automakers and Internet companies,” said Liu Yigong, president of FAW-Volkswagen.

“Banma introduces AliOS and cloud computing into the full lifecycle of automobile products as infrastructures. By virtue of big data and AI technologies, we will fully assist FAW-Volkswagen with upgrading of digitalization and intelligence, and both of us will make joint efforts to build future-oriented new ICV experience,” Zhang Chunhui, vice president of Alibaba Group and co-CEO of Banma Network.

Banma Zhixing, Banma's AliOS-based intelligent vehicle solution, has so far powered over 1 million intelligent vehicles from 10 plus brands, including Roewe, MG and New Baojun.
