Chery Holding, Anhui Province launch automotive industrial research institute
Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 26th, Chery Holding and the provincial government of Anhui Province officially inaugurated their joint Anhui research institute of new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles.

The research institute is of great importance to Chery Holding’s intelligent and electric transportation, with a series of designated labs setting the foundation for Chery’s own “Nokia Bell Laboratory”.
Positioned as technology development and public service platform, the research institute consists of an auto research center and an industrial incubator. The auto research center includes platform R&D, powertrain system R&D, autonomous driving test field, and Chery’s Alkaid Lab.
According to Chery Holding’s business strategy, the company aims to realize 100% new energy adoption and V2X usage by the end of the 14th five-year plan (2025). The automaker plans to build an intelligent battery-electric platform, a high-performance battery-electric platform commercial vehicle platform, and a hybrid platform.
As of now, Chery Holding has established an R&D network across the globe, with six R&D centers in Shanghai, Europe, and North America. Over the years, the company has filed for more than 23,000 patents, with 14,000 authorized so far.
Additionally, during the inauguration, Chery Holding showcased its global model, the OMODA5, and its mini-EV model, the Chery QQ Ice-cream, and released relevant technology achievements and procurement plans. The automaker also signed purchase contracts with two local suppliers.
