According to the job description, Apple’s Car Experience team is looking for applications engineers to provide integration support to automotive partners, and assist developers in completing system certification with Apple.

The position is described as a hybrid role between technical engineering and program managing. The employees should be able to guide the technical design and development, and handle certification records throughout the Car Experience programs, including CarPlay, car keys in Wallet, facilitating the communication between Apple and global automotive industry engineering.

Earlier at the annual WWDC 2022, Apple introduced its new-generation CarPlay, which holds projection, display, and control functions over various onboard data and hardware equipment. The new CarPlay will be adaptive on vehicles from 14 brands, including Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Polestar, Porsche, Renault, and Volvo.

Since the new CarPlay system is capable of so much more than a simple screen projector, namely bottom layer data-sharing and control, the system requires complex efforts to open port and data permissions, and adaption to different onboard screens. Apple’s recruitment for the CarPlay system in China is interpreted as a means to support the aforementioned 14 partner automakers’ smooth CarPlay adaption in the country.
