Black Sesame Technologies, Smarter Eye’s perception system gains nominated orders

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 14, Black Sesame Technologies announced that its height limit anti-collision warning system jointly developed with Beijing-based sensor supplier, Smarter Eye, has received nominated mass production orders from a major automaker in China.

The system will come standard as part on the vehicle’s chassis in this project, and will be applied to the mobility scenario of special purpose vehicles in large quantities to ensure day and night cruise safety. Through this order, Black Sesame Technologies became the first chip supplier in China to be nominated for a factory-installed special vehicle chassis project by a well-known automaker. 

Smarter Eye’s height limit anti-collision warning system can construct the 3D contour and position of the object in real time based on the binocular parallax principle. It is able to accurately judge the height limit of obstacles with complex shapes through its dense 3D point cloud information. The system detects the front of the vehicle in real time, and can effectively detect all kinds of irregular height-limited obstacles such as bridge openings, tunnels, height limit poles, roadside signs, billboards, tree trunks, and other objects with potential collision risks.

The system is implemented with Black Sesame Technologies’ A1000 high-performance autonomous driving chip, which offers 58TOPS of computing power. The A1000 chip has a built-in automotive high-performance image sensor, real-time computer vision, and neural network processor, which guarantees the excellent computing performance and accurate perception capability of the height limit collision avoidance warning system.
