Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 18, the software branch of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released the China Vehicle Operating System Open-Source Plan (the "Open Source Plan"). i-Soft Infrastructure Software Co., Ltd. (i-Soft), as one of the core initiators of the Open Source Plan, has joined hands with members of the software branch to form an open source partnership and implement the Open Source Plan.
Participants of the Open Source Plan include FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile, CAIC, Horizon Robotics, SemiDrive, and other enterprises as well as academies in China.
The vice chairman of the CAAM, Fu Bingfeng, stated that China has become the largest market for intelligent vehicles, and the rapid development of technology innovation and industrial ecosystem urgently requires an open and inclusive operating system kernel to support the collaborative innovation of hardware and software for new technological architecture. He also hopes that the open source platform can help create Chinese standards, and build a Chinese solution for intelligent connected vehicle software systems.
According to i-Soft, the first open source version of the original microkernel for vehicle operating systems will be officially released in May 2023. This version can provide a secure kernel for various chip platforms and application scenarios, with characteristics such as kernel miniaturization, service modularization, adherence to POSIX specifications, high reliability, strong real-time performance, high security, and strong scalability.
