NIO unveils patent related to electronic devices
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- NIO Mobile Technology Co., Ltd.'s patent for a "front camera with adjustable aperture for electronic devices" was recently published, according to Qichacha, a Chinese company information search platform.
The patent abstract reveals that it relates to the technical field of electronic devices and specifically provides a front camera with an adjustable aperture, aiming to address the problem of the current front cameras being unable to adjust the aperture.

The electronic device with the adjustable aperture front camera, as described in the patent application, includes a main body, a display screen positioned on the main body, a camera module located inside the main body with the display screen covering it, and a controller connected to both the camera module and the display screen within the main body.
The display screen features an aperture area corresponding to the light-receiving end, which contains pixel points. By controlling the display status of the pixel points at different positions within the aperture area, the controller can change the light transmission area of the aperture. This patent not only ensures the aesthetic appeal of the front face of electronic devices but also avoids the need to increase device thickness, meeting the design requirements for compact and lightweight electronic devices.
Previously, NIO’s chairman and CEO William Bin Li stated that NIO is currently not comparable to mobile phone companies who can sell 100 million units per year. However, he emphasized that "making a phone is not difficult," and the challenge lies in "making a phone that is user-friendly."
It is worth noting that NIO's smartphone, with the model number N2301, received radio approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on June 19. According to the approval information from the ministry, NIO's smartphone supports various communication standards, including 2G (GSM), 3G (WCDMA), CDMA, 4G (TD-LTE/LTE FDD), and 5G, as well as ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. It is expected to be directly used as a digital key for NIO vehicles or form short-range connections with other smart devices.
