AVATR starts launching HD map-free NCA application
Beijing (Gasgoo)- AVATR, the new energy vehicle brand jointly backed by Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, announced on Monday the gradual roll out of its map-free Navigation Cruise Assistance (NCA), an advanced smart driving system that operates independently of high-definition maps, enabling nationwide accessibility.

The deployment of the map-free NCA is planned in three phases regarding coverage, namely 6 cities, 16 cities, and nationwide. The initial six cities include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. AVATR aims to integrate high-speed, urban, and parking intelligent driving functions seamlessly across the entire country by the end of 2023.
Compared to existing smart driving solutions, the map-free NCA offers an enhanced driving experience. Users no longer need to choose between manual or smart driving routes; they simply select the destination and initiate one-touch operation, ensuring a smooth transition between modes, regardless of internet connectivity or complex road conditions.
Furthermore, the map-free NCA boasts improved perception capabilities. Without relying on high-definition maps, it maximizes environmental awareness, facilitating rapid and logical route planning.
AVATR's flagship model, the AVATR 11, comes standard with Huawei's advanced ADS 2.0 smart driving system and is equipped with a comprehensive array of sensors, including three LiDAR sensors, six millimeter-wave radar sensors, and a total of 34 intelligent driving sensors. These sensors offer a detection range of up to 210 meters. Leveraging Huawei's high-performance smart driving computing platform and advanced fusion algorithms, the AVATR 11 can navigate various scenarios without human intervention, avoiding both stationary and moving obstacles, standard or irregular, thanks to the innovative Laser Fusion GOD Network.
This groundbreaking technology translates LiDAR data into pixelated obstacle representations, enabling precise recognition and avoidance of even unlearned irregular obstacles. Furthermore, the LiDAR sensors are adept at operating in low-light or backlight conditions, significantly enhancing nighttime driving safety.
