Beijing (Gasgoo)- On October 10, Chinese automotive intelligence solution provider, NavInfo, launched a lightweight navigation assistant driving system known as the NOP Lite. This system is positioned as an entry-level solution that combines pilot and parking capabilities, offering an exceptional price-to-performance ratio for automakers.

While the penetration rate of L2 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) in entry-level vehicles has reached a significant level, the adoption of Navigation on Pilot (NOP) functionality remains relatively low. Given that vehicles priced under 300,000 yuan have a dominant market share, differentiation in the development of intelligent driving features has become a key competitive advantage in the current automotive landscape, where consumers increasingly embrace and prioritize vehicle intelligence, said NavInfo.

According to NavInfo, currently, automakers typically allocate approximately 3% to 5% of a vehicle's total cost for an intelligent driving system. However, the existing systems capable of providing NOP functionality tend to be cost-prohibitive, leading to a demand for cost-effective, high-performance solutions.

In response to this market demand, NavInfo introduced the NOP Lite, a lightweight pilot and parking assistant system. Leveraging Horizon Robotics’ Journey 3 chip with 5 TOPS of computing power and equipped with a 5V5R sensor configuration, the NOP Lite offers a minimal-cost, high-value proposition to the industry. It is the first pilot and parking integrated solution in the industry to achieve mass production that is based on a single Journey 3 chip, NavInfo stated.

The NOP Lite utilizes navigation planning and NavInfo's HD Lite map data to provide lane-change recommendations, enabling automatic turn signal activation and intelligent speed adjustments as vehicles approach highway entrances/exits. This solution, designed for low-computing-power applications, allows for point-to-point travel based on navigation data, providing automakers with a cost-effective intelligent driving solution.
