Uhnder, HASCO to co-develop ADAS tech powered by digital radars

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 16, digital imaging radar chip company Uhnder signed a strategic partnership with the automotive electronics subsidiary of Huayu Automotive Systems Co., Ltd. (HASCO), to develop ADAS technology using digital radar.

This collaboration aims to enhance road safety for drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The partners will introduce vehicle-mounted digital radars to the market, ensuring reliable operation even as the number of radar sensors increases. Additionally, both companies will work together to create next-generation ADAS (advanced driving assistant system) perception solutions that can coexist with traditional analog and digital modulated radar sensors, offering improved contrast, distance measurement, and angle resolution.

The automotive electronic systems branch of the comprehensive auto parts supplier HASCO, has been active in the ADAS field for over a decade. The company has developed products such as millimeter-wave radars (including forward-looking, surround-view, 4D imaging radars, in-cabin child detection radars, and power door radars), intelligent cameras, fusion systems, and domain controllers.

In March 2022, Uhnder launched the industry's first automotive 4D digital imaging radar chip, which is claimed to boast 16 times the resolution, 24 times the target identification performance, and 30 times the contrast of existing analog radars. On April 24, Uhnder introduced the S81, a new imaging radar solution featuring a highly integrated single-chip design, offering a cost-effective 4D digital imaging radar solution for a broader automotive market.

Uhnder revealed that its 4D digital imaging radar chips went into mass production in the fourth quarter of 2022, with over 100,000 units shipped to date.
