Toyota to launch EV in 2020, produce new compact SUV in China
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Toyota Motor Corp said today that it would introduce battery electric vehicle models to China in 2020, ahead of the company'a other markets. The BEV models will be developed by the Japanese automaker’s two joint ventures in China.
In the middle of next year, Toyota will introduce a compact SUV model to China market, which is based on its concept WAY. The new SUV is the second model in China built on the carmaker’s TNGA platform. The company’s two local joint ventures will both produce this new SUV but under different names. GAC-Toyota will produce the SUV under the name of CH-R while the one produced by FAW-Toyota will be named Izoa.
