New energy passenger vehicles see YoY sales surge of 76% in February
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In February, China saw a remarkable YoY surge of 76% in new energy passenger vehicle sales to 29,150 units. However, it underwent a slight sales drop of 7% compared with January, according to the data released by the China Passenger Car Association.
According to the wholesale performance of NEV makers, BYD led the pack among all NEV makers with deliveries reaching 8,236 units. However, the sales champion in January, BAIC BJEV ranked second with deliveries of 4,445 units in February. Though it suffered a MoM sales slump of 43.9%, BAIC BJEV still enjoyed a sales growth of 13% from a year earlier. Out of its total sales, 4,120 units came from the BAIC EC Series.
On the top 10 NEV makers list, JAC and Chery both witnessed their ranking rise in February. JAC took the third place among the top ten NEV makers with sales of 3,048 units in February, skyrocketing 2338% compared to a year ago. Ranking fourth among the top ten, Chery posted sales of 3,019 units, shooting up 1279% compared with last year. Strikingly, the Chery eQ ranked fifth among the top ten best-selling NEV models with deliveries of 2,753 units in February.
SAIC Passenger Vehicle, the third best-selling NEV makers in January, fell to the fifth place with February sales of 2,716 units, up 38% year on year and down 45.8% month on month. However, its sales performance in PHEV segment is noteworthy. The respective sales of the Roewe eRX and the Roewe i6 reached 1,187 units and 1,071 units, taking the seventh and eighth place among the top ten best-selling NEV models respectively.
JMC handed over 2,299 NEVs in February. Among them, deliveries of the JMC E200 reached 1,594 units, ranking sixth among the top ten best-selling NEV models in February. Besides, Geely Zhidou, Changan, Geely and GAC New Energy saw their NEV deliveries within 1,000 units in February.
Taking up 65% of the total sales, deliveries of pure electric vehicle reached 18,842 units, jumping 42% over the previous year. Taking up the rest 35%, deliveries of PHEV totaled 10,308 units, skyrocketing 221% compared with the same period last year.
Sales of the A00 class vehicle accounted for 77% of the total sales in pure electric vehicles. It saw a YoY sales growth of 31% and MoM sales drop of 13% in February to 14,555 units. What worth mentioning, A-class vehicles saw both YoY and MoM sales growth of 136% and 41% respectively in February.
