BYD said to foray into rocket transportation area
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD will reportedly cooperate with the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology in such areas as honeycomb structure, composite materials and light weight through communication and discussion.
It is reported that BYD and the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology will continue to deepen their cooperation in such areas as NEVs and NEV-related parts, Skyrail business and commercial aerospace, based on both parties' complementary advantages in technologies and projects.
In addition, it can be learnt from the Trademark Office of The State Administration for Industry & Commerce that BYD had applied a trademark which may be relevant to rocket transportation. The main body of the trademark looks like a "Biu (onomatopoeia, sound of gunshot)" with a small rocket in the "U", which may suggest the trademark may be applied in the relevant businesses with rocket transportation.
In fact, BYD had involved in an investment of OneSpace, a privately operated aerospace company, as early as in October, 2016. At that time, OneSpace had closed RMB 100 million A-round funding, led by Zhengxuan Investment, which is founded by Xia Zuoquan, founder of BYD.
