BYD posts YoY sales growth of 21.8% in Q1
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD delivered 111,777 vehicles in the first quarter, among which 29,637 units are NEVs, according to the latest sales data released by BYD on Apr. 9. Among them, sales of passenger vehicles reached 110,639 units, jumping 21.8% over the previous year. With cumulative sales of 40,510 units,the Song MAX taking up 36.6% of the total sales of passenger vehicles.
BYD kept rapid YoY sales growth from the beginning of 2018. In March, BYD's sales of passenger vehicles reached 42,328 units with a YoY growth of 12.2% and a MoM surge of 61.8%. In March, sales of gasoline-powered and new energy vehicles reached 29,216 units and 13,112 units respectively.
In March, BYD delivered 13,950 NEVs in total, among which, sales of new energy passenger vehicle reached 13,112 units. Specifically, sales of pure electric vehicle and PHEV reached 4,668 units and 8,444 units respectively. During the first three months in 2018, the cumulative sales of new energy passenger vehicles totaled 28,499 units, skyrocketing 227% from a year earlier.
The total sales of gasoline-powered vehicles reached 29,216 units in March and 82,140 units in the first quarter, dominating BYD’s total sales. The Song MAX saw MoM sales growth of 45.3% to 15,074 units in March. In gasoline-powered vehicle segment, sales of sedans and SUVs reached 7,967 units and 6,175 units respectively last month.
In 2018, BYD had released three new gasoline-powered models, the new F3, the Surui and the Song, as well as three pure electric vehicle models, the Qin EV 450, e5 450 and the Song EV 400. What's more, the new-gen Tang, the new-gen Qin, the all-new Yuan EV360 and the Song MAX 6 are slated to hit the market later this year.
