SAIC Motor says world’s biggest hydrogen-refueling station launched in Shanghai
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The world's biggest and highest-level hydrogen-refueling station has been officially launched on June 5 at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, SAIC Motor announced via its official WeChat account.
The fresh hydrogen-refueling station is a joint program between Shanghai Chemical Industry Park and the China's largest auto group SAIC Motor. The automaker said SAIC is the only company in China that comprehensively deploys three major NEV technical routes—all-electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell, and has proactively engaged in the formulation of 15 national standards for fuel cell.
In January 2018, SAIC Motor and its subordinate companies formed the strategic partnership with Shanghai Chemical Industry Park to jointly boost the pilot operation of fuel cell vehicles and relevant infrastructure construction. The newly-built hydrogen-refueling station is part of fruits under the cooperation, carrying the mission to speed up SAIC Motor's commercialization progress in fuel cell cars and help Shanghai set up a world-class innovation base for fuel cell vehicle growth.
According to the Shanghai-based automaker, the new station is going to serve 20 SAIC Motor-owned fuel cell vehicles deployed at the pilot industry park and also offer relevant business services to the public.
Covering around 8,000 square meters, the full-scenario hydrogen-refueling station is able to supply some 2 ton of hydrogen per day with other services like tank truck refueling, maintenance and charging for fuel cell vehicles.
SAIC Motor is the earliest Chinese automaker that put fuel cell vehicles into commercial operation with its products covering both PVs and CVs, such as the Roewe 950, the MAXUS FCV80 light bus as well as Sunwin fuel cell buses. In the future, fuel cell products will extend to cover light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks.
SAIC Motor has set up the Jieqing Technology fuel cell manufacturing company in June last year to accelerate the commercialization of its fuel cells. Its trial-produced Type 300 fuel cell stack has achieved a globally leading power, according to SAIC Motor's introduction (photo source: SAIC Motor's official WeChat account).
