Anhui aims to contribute 10% of China’s NEV production in 2023

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Anhui province, in eastern China, aims to nurture 3 to 5 new energy vehicle (NEV) enterprises of great influence and a group of key parts suppliers with global competitiveness, according to the province’s 2021-2023 NEV industry development planning. It wants to have over 10 well-known vehicle brands and create world-class NEV and intelligent and connected vehicle (ICV) industry clusters.

The planning says that by 2023, NEV production of the province may account for more than 10% of the country’s total production volume while 70% auto parts will come from nearby suppliers. NEV and key parts technologies are expected to reach world-class levels and NEVs will be widely adopted by public services and other fields.

According to the plan, Anhui will make efforts to attract foreign NEV companies, R&D and manufacturing projects and enhance the stability and competitiveness of the supply chain. Besides, the province will support the development and help to accelerate industrial application of power battery technologies.

The province also says that it will set up industry campuses and bases to promote the industry’s development, including NEV and ICV demonstration bases in Hefei, Wuhu and Anqing, lithium battery industry bases in Hefei and Bengbu, and fuel cell battery industry clusters in Hefei, LuAn, Tongling and Wuhu.
