Gotion High-Tech intends to co-build battery production facility in Europe with InoBat

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Feb. 5, Hefei Gotion High-Tech Power Energy Co., Ltd. (“Hefei Gotion”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gotion High-Tech, signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the European battery manufacturer InoBat for a new project of battery production capacity, according to a post on Gotion High-Tech’s WeChat account.

Under the agreement, both parties will conduct cooperation and discussion in such fields as manufacturing and technology R&D. To be specific, in the aspect of cell manufacturing, the duo will explore the co-establishment of a cell & battery pack factory in Europe with an annual production capacity of 40GWh. The two companies will also carry out technology R&D by leveraging their respective advantages in the areas of LFP and ternary-lithium batteries.

Regarding energy storage, Hefei Gotion and InoBat will make use of the latter’s existing factory in Slovakia to jointly explore the potential of energy storage battery production.

Moreover, the two companies intend to form collaboration on facility operation, and discuss the viability schemes for recycling and re-production of wastes and decommissioned batteries.  

Gotion High-Tech believes that the new cooperation with InoBat will help it boost the deployment of 100GWh battery production capacity overseas by 2025.

InoBat specializes in pioneering research, development, manufacture, supply, recycling, and ultimate careful disposal of innovative electric batteries custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of global mainstream and specialist OEMs within the automotive, commercial vehicle, motorsport, and aerospace sectors. It has been approved for grant financing under the EU sponsored programme, Important Projects for Common European Interest, and already received a grant from the Slovak Government.
