SAIC-GM-Wuling hits sales milestone of 1.7 million Wuling Hongguang MINIEVs

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 11, SAIC-GM-Wuling announced that cumulative sales of its Hongguang MINIEV have exceeded 1.7 million units, cementing its position as the top-selling BEV (battery electric vehicle) model to date from a Chinese brand in history.

According to the company, the diminutive BEV model has dominated the domestic micro new energy vehicle (NEV) segment for 60 consecutive months since its debut in 2020, maintaining the crown without interruption. Over that five-year span, the Wuling Hongguang MINIEVs have collectively covered more than 40.5 billion kilometers—roughly equivalent to circling the globe 1.01 million times—while cutting carbon emissions by over 7.99 million tonnes.

On July 15, the Wuling Global Silver Badge announced a special trade-in campaign to mark the MINIEV's fifth anniversary. Prices for eligible replacements start at just 36,800 yuan, with buyers also able to stack up to 20,000 yuan in combined national and local subsidies.

Visually, the latest edition carries forward the brand's playful, fashion-forward design, offering five two-tone color schemes—Cream Almond, Light Mango Yellow, Avocado Green, White Peach Pink, and Iris Blue. It also stands out in its class as the only model with LED lighting at both front and rear, pairing rounded contours with a charming, approachable look.

Inside, customers can choose between "Milk Toffee" and "Brownie Black" interior themes. The cabin blends retro sweetness with practicality, featuring houndstooth-pattern fabric seats for a touch of character.

Under the hood, the Hongguang MINIEV is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 215 km. It supports DC fast charging, AC slow charging, and standard home charging, with the ability to recharge from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes. The model also integrates an intelligent auxiliary charging feature designed to prevent low-voltage battery depletion from rendering the car immobile.
