As the new energy sector rapidly expands, the market is demanding higher energy density and enhanced safety in battery systems. Solid-state and semi-solid-state batteries are increasingly seen as a critical focus for next-generation battery innovation.

WELION New Energy is a pioneer in the solid-state battery sector, with over four decades of research experience. Its products are applied across new energy vehicles (NEVs), energy storage systems, and other fields such as low-altitude aviation and power tools. Meanwhile, BSBM brings more than 20 years of expertise in CAM development and production, with a proven capability to address critical challenges in solid-state battery materials.

Since initiating their collaboration in August 2024, BSBM and WELION New Energy have moved from concept to mass production in just one year, driven by close cooperation and a shared commitment to high-tech innovation.

BSBM's R&D team has developed ultra-high Nickel NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) CAM featuring a unique composite coating layer to address interface issues between CAM and solid electrolytes. This innovation not only enhances energy density through higher capacity and lower resistance but also significantly improves cycle performance and calendar life by mitigating side reactions at the interface between CAM and electrolyte. The collaboration represents a clear milestone in next-generation advanced battery technology.

This milestone reflects WELION New Energy and BASF's shared commitment to accelerating the commercialization and large-scale production of next-generation battery technologies.

By combining WELION New Energy's expertise in solid-state batteries with BASF's capabilities in advanced material innovation, the partnership is driving tangible progress toward safer, higher-energy-density solutions. The successful delivery of CAM for semi-solid-state batteries underscores the strategic significance of their global collaboration and lays a foundation for future breakthroughs in the battery industry.
