Tesla ramps up Shanghai Gigafactory output for Q4

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Tesla Vice President Grace Tao recently announced on social media that the company's Shanghai Gigafactory has begun ramping up production for the fourth quarter. She said the facility is operating at full capacity to accelerate deliveries for customers in China and across the Asia-Pacific region, supported by new employee incentives and workplace measures designed to sustain the increased pace.

According to Grace Tao, Tesla delivered 497,000 vehicles worldwide in the third quarter of 2025 — the highest quarterly total in the company's history. The strong performance has set the stage for an even more ambitious production schedule in the final quarter of the year.

Earlier this month, on October 8, Tesla introduced new entry-level versions of its Model 3 and Model Y for overseas markets. The Model 3 Standard starts at $36,990, while the Model Y Standard is priced at $39,990 — both positioned below their higher-spec counterparts to make Tesla's lineup more accessible amid intensifying global competition.

To keep costs down, the Model Y Standard has undergone several configuration changes. The full-width light bars on the front and rear have been removed, and the vehicle now comes with standard 18-inch wheels and a limited palette of black, white, and gray. The seats combine eco-leather and fabric, while features such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and the rear 8-inch touchscreen have been omitted. The steering wheel is now manually adjustable, and the panoramic glass roof includes an insulated liner for better cabin comfort. Powered by a single rear-mounted motor delivering 300 horsepower, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds—1.4 seconds slower than the Long Range version
