Shanghai VW, with a single-month sales volume of 42,518 vehicles in August, still holds the first place in China's sedan market.

Shanghai VW is closely followed by FAW-VW, which sold 42,460 vehicles in August. The difference is just 58 vehicles between China's No. 1 and No. 2 automakers.

Eight out of ten best selling automakers in China have posted an increase of 20 percent in sales volume, according to a Chinese media report.

Dongfeng-Nissan, with a single month sales volume of 24,172 vehicles in August, a 93 percent growth year on year, becomes the fastest growing automaker in this month.

By contrast, Hyundai becomes the most unsuccessful automaker this month, with its sales volume declined 30 percent year on year.
