WeRide unveils L4 Robovan to make foray into smart urban logistics
Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s autonomous driving company WeRide unveiled its Robovan, the first L4 self-driving cargo van in China, on Thursday, marking its foray into urban logistics. Thus, WeRide becomes a company whose products cover Robotaxi, Mini Robobus and Robovan, providing solutions for autonomous driving mobility as well as smart urban logistics.

Meanwhile, WeRide also announced that it has entered into strategic cooperation with Jiangling Motors (JMC) and ZTO Express, to promote the production and commercialization of the WeRide Robovan and build an autonomous driving (AD) ecosystem for China’s urban logistics.

Based on JMC’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) model with a fully-redundant vehicle platform, the Robovan adopts WeRide’s full-stack software and hardware AD solutions with L4 autonomous capabilities to offer safe and efficient services for various urban traffic scenarios in CBD, urban villages, tunnels and highways.

By virtue of respective expertise in technology, product innovation and commercialization, the three parties will undertake Robovan’s commercial pilot operations together. In the future, WeRide and JMC will cowork to design purpose-built models which will be made on JMC’s customized assembly lines and will be used for ZTO Express logistics business.
