Toyota shows bZ4X CONCEPT at China International Import Expo
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Toyota Motor presented its phased achievements in complete lifecycle carbon neutrality and various electrified products which will offer services for the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games at the ongoing fourth China International Import Expo.
In the expo, Toyota highlights its fuel cell technologies and battery electric technologies to present its measures for building low-carbon society. Specifically, Toyota showcases the fuel cell vehicle MIRAI II, the wheelchair accessible Coaster fuel cell bus, the wheelchair accessible SIENNA and the bZ4X CONCEPT.
At the end of October, Toyota announced details about the bZ4X, a medium-segment SUV-type BEV and the first model in the Toyota bZ series. The new model adopts a BEV-dedicated platform (first for Toyota) based on e-TNGA philosophy, to achieve impressive driving performance through a low center of gravity and greater rigidity. In practical terms, the automaker aimed for a BEV that can be driven safely and conveniently for many years, considering securing cruising range, particularly in winter settings, and targeting a top-class battery capacity retention ratio (90% after 10 years). Its sales in China are expected to start from the middle of 2022. By 2025, Toyota will introduce five models out of the total seven models from the series.
What’s more, Toyota also shows its e-Palette, a next-generation battery electric vehicle developed specifically for "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS), which applies technologies like electrification and connected and automated driving. The company said it will join hands with its partners to offer a variety of mobility services.
