Geely starts presale for new battery-swapping heavy truck

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The commercial vehicle arm of Geely Holding, Farizon Auto, introduced its new energy heavy truck, the Homtruck, last night. Presale of the Homtruck started at the same time, and the truck will be on the market in 2024.

According to the truck maker, the Homtruck features multiple new energy power modes, including swappable battery-electric, swappable extended-range, methyl alcohol P2 hybrid, and more. Under Farizon Auto’s energy fueling network, the Homtruck’s battery-swapping mode almost allows unlimited NEDC range.

Farizon has incorporated numerous Chinese cultural elements in the truck. For example, the digital LED headlights are inspired by the Chinese character “水” (water) in a traditional style of Chinese calligraphy.

The Homtruck uses a wedge-shaped driver’s cabin instead of the typical square-shaped ones. The truck maker takes several measures to cut down air frictions, and minimize energy consumptions, realizing 0.351Cd of drag coefficient.

Notably, the Homtruck is equipped with a specialized driving section and a living section, consisting of a shower room, a bathroom, a single bed, a refrigerator, a tea set, a kitchen, and a washer/dryer, providing comfortable and practical solutions to long-distance commutes.

In addition, the CEO of Geely Commercial Vehicle Group, Fan Xianjun, released the group’s 2030 strategic vision. From 2021 to 2025, the group aims to promote new energy architecture in commercial vehicle manufacturing and achieve 250,000 new energy vehicles in sales volume with a 21% market share and 40% green energy usage rate.

From 2026 to 2030, Geely plans to realize a sales volume of 570,000 new energy vehicles and cut 90% of vehicles’ complete lifecycle carbon emissions.
