General Motors to roll out over 15 Ultium-based EV models in China by 2025
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Nov. 22, General Motors ("GM") held the GM China Tech Day 2022 in Shanghai, where it announced the plan to roll out more than 15 models based on its Ultium full-electric vehicle platform in China by 2025.
The U.S.-based automaker claimed the Ultium as the industry's first hyperscale EV platform designed with flexibility and modularity at its core, providing the power, range and performance to make nearly every vehicle an EV. The platform is expected to help GM lead the transformation and ultimately create a better, safer and more sustainable world for its customers and future generations.

Currently, the portfolio of the Ultium lineup has ranged from the Cruise Origin AV and BrightDrop commercial vehicles, to the GMC HUMMER EV supertruck and Chevrolet Silverado EV, and the Cadillac CELESTIQ ultra-luxury flagship revealed in October.
GM revealed at the event that the Cadillac CELESTIQ, which was displayed at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE), will be the first Ultium-enabled product to be introduced in China by the Durant Guild—GM's new lifestyle platform.
The first Ultium-based Buick model will debut in China later this year, with its delivery expected to begin in the first half of 2023. It will be followed by a second Ultium-powered EV, also next year.
To make electric vehicle smarter and more connected, GM will introduce its new software-defined vehicle platform in China and North America next year. The platform will enable frequent and seamless updates of apps and services over the air.
The enhanced Super Cruise, which is available on some Cadillac models, will be featured on the brand's entire lineup in 2025. Moreover, it is being introduced on Buick-branded models beginning later this year, and those from Chevrolet will come afterwards.
