2nd-Gen BYD Yuan PLUS & Yuan UP | Static Tour
Hey everyone! Today we're checking out the 2nd-Gen BYD Yuan PLUS and its younger sibling, the Yuan UP.
The Yuan PLUS has been China's best-selling A-segment all-electric SUV for three years straight, while the Yuan UP topped the small SUV charts in 2024. And with the Yuan family just passing the 1.5-million-unit global sales mark, both models are back with some fresh updates. Let's dive in.
First up, the 2nd-Gen Yuan PLUS.
The biggest change is up front—new bumper design, sharper and cleaner styling. On the side, you'll spot a new camera on the fender and a redesigned D-pillar, plus sleek 18-inch aero wheels.
Around back, the old taillights are gone—replaced by a bold "Chinese knot" light bar that's instantly recognizable when lit. Even the high-mounted brake light got a refresh.
Inside, there's an all-digital 8.8-inch instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, and an electronic column-mounted shifter that frees up the center console. Wireless charging is now 50 watts with cooling, and the center screen, while no longer rotatable, is still buttery smooth. OTA updates add car-to-phone connectivity, though only for certain devices.
The front seats now offer heating and ventilation—but not at the same time—and come with new split headrests.
Door panels are cleaner, and in the rear, you get two handy storage drawers under the seats.
Now onto the Yuan UP.
This one, with more entry-level positioning, targets younger buyers. Outside, changes are minimal, but inside you'll also find the new electronic column-mounted shifter and upgraded wireless charging pad. The big highlight is the wide W-HUD head-up display—bright, clear, and packed with info.
Compared with the 2nd-Gen Yuan PLUS, the Yuan UP has a slightly lower sitting position, but overall comfort and space feel about the same. The new addition here: rear-seat air vents, finally making the back row more comfortable.
We've covered the design and interior updates—now let's talk tech and driving assistance, where the 2nd-Gen Yuan PLUS and Yuan UP see their biggest leap forward.
Both models now come with BYD's DiPilot 100 system, backed by serious hardware: 29 sensors in total, including five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and a tri-camera setup composed of three 8-megapixel cameras.
So, what does that mean on the road?
First, highway pilot assist—the car can handle cruising, obstacle avoidance, and even tackle on- and off-ramps or tight curves all by itself.
Parking also gets smarter with three new tricks:
Auto-folding mirrors in tight spots
Both head-in and reverse parking
And adjustable offset parking—so you can choose to park slightly left or right depending on space.
These features make automated parking far more practical for the messy reality of everyday lots. And here’s a bold promise: in China, BYD guarantees full coverage on any losses in smart parking scenarios—unlimited, lifetime, and without raising your premiums. That’s real confidence.
On the safety side, the AEB system as a standard feature is now sharper than ever. Thanks to the upgraded sensing system, the car can react earlier—whether it's a sudden stop on the highway or a pedestrian darting out in the city.
Overall, the 2nd-Gen Yuan and Yuan UP feel more refined, more intelligent, and more complete—strengthening the Yuan family lineup for all kinds of drivers.
