New BYD Tang BEV version patent images exposed
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Patent images of the new BYD Tang's BEV (battery electric vehicle) version were exposed in recent days, presenting that the BEV version looks basically the same as the fossil fuel-powered and DM versions hitting markets in June.
The BEV model, retaining the exterior design from the new BYD Tang, adopts the latest family design language of the Dragon Face. At the front face, the dot-matrix intake grille embedded with chrome trims connects the sleek LED headlights on both sides. The aerodynamic bumper and the lathy grille at the lower part highlight a sporty style.
From the side view, the new BEV model features double five-spoke rims and the floating roof. The blending of the D pillar and the stern window augment the sense of fluency. At the rear end, the pulling-through taillights with the LED light source make the vehicle more eye-catching. Besides, the blue logo of the Chinese character “Tang” manifests the model's NEV identity.
It is expected that the interior of the BEV version will almost remain the same as the all-new BYD Tang's fuel-burning and DM version according to spy shots disclosed before. However, the detail of the gear level may be different from the existing one. The BEV version will offer two types of seat layout—the 5-seat and the 7-seat, among which the latter probably features a 2-3-2 configuration.
Powering the BEV vehicle is a permanent magnet synchronous generator (model number is BYD-2018TZ-XS-A/BYD-2018TZ-XS-B) whose rated power and peak power are 65kW and 180kW respectively. Such powertrain will reportedly offer a combined range of over 500km and make the vehicle sprint from 0-100km/h within less than 4.5 seconds.
