Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China-based automaker Geely on April 9 registered a new trademark dubbed “Binjie”, according to the record from China’s Trademark Office of National Intellectual Property Administration. The new trademark is likely to be the name of the “SX12”, an all-new BMA platform-based SUV to be launched in the second half of 2019.

According the patent images exposed in March, the SX12 SUV displays a striking resemblance to the CONCEPT ICON, a concept unveiled at the Auto China 2018. At the front face, a lot of rectangle elements are applied in such parts as the LED daytime running lights. As for the squarish side profile, the “hidden” D-pillar enables a look of a floating roof.

Moving inside, the all-new SUV model is outfitted with a multifunctional three-spoke flat bottomed steering wheel that fits the vehicle's sports essence. The design of the dashboard and the display at the center console is quite rare. A full liquid crystal dashboard is expected to be installed in the new vehicle. Besides, we could also notice that the SX12 SUV uses an electronic gear lever.

The SX12 measures 4,350mm long, 1,819mm wide and 1,615mm with a wheelbase spanning 2,640mm, which is a bit larger than the Binyue, Geely’s first BMA-based model. It is reported that the new model is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that pumps out 130kW and 255 N·m. This engine is said to be available with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
