Formula E introduces PIT BOOST ultra-fast charging function for Season 11

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is set to debut a groundbreaking pit stop fast charging feature, known as "PIT BOOST," in Season 11, showcasing cutting-edge ultra-fast charging technology for electric vehicles (EVs).

The PIT BOOST is an innovative mid-race feature that provides a 10% energy increase (3.85kWh) to race cars through a 30-second and 600kW rapid recharge in the pit lane. This mandatory sporting feature outpaces the power levels of current consumer EV superchargers.

The introduction of PIT BOOST is expected to redefine race strategies in Formula E. Drivers and teams will have to weigh the benefits of an energy boost against the risk of losing track position during pit stops. Choosing the optimal moment for their PIT BOOST will be critical.
