Shanghai (Gasgoo)- As the new year begins, Xiaomi EV has moved again on intelligent driving safety. On January 5, data from Tianyancha showed that a patent filed by Xiaomi EV Technology Co., Ltd., titled "fatigue driving intervention method, apparatus, vehicle, device, medium and chip," was published recently.

According to the patent specification, as technology advances, vehicles occupy an increasingly central role in daily life. During routine driving, drivers face a real risk of fatigue, which can compromise the safety of the vehicle, the driver, and passengers. In such scenarios, intervening when fatigue occurs is critical. The patent disclosed by Xiaomi aims to address at least one of the technical problems in this field.
The abstract notes that the disclosure applies to the smart cockpit. The method includes: first, collecting multiple vehicle-side data points from the in-vehicle system during driving, as well as multiple driver data points sourced from a wearable device; then, identifying the driver’s fatigue status based on both sets of data; and finally, upon detecting that the driver is fatigued, performing an intervention calibrated to the driver's fatigue level.
In essence, the patent seeks to improve the precision and accuracy of fatigue-state determination in real-world driving. By executing targeted interventions through both the vehicle and the wearable device, it enhances the effectiveness and proactiveness of fatigue mitigation, improving overall intervention outcomes.
If rolled out in future products, the technology could further refine Xiaomi EV's intelligent safety system while offering a new approach to fatigue-intervention for smart vehicles — helping lift safety standards across the industry.
