China exports 3.15M motorcycles in Jan-May, up 39%

Shanghai, June 18 (Gasgoo.com) In the first five months of the year, China exported 3.15 million motorcycles, up 39% from a year earlier, as both sales and motorcycle production in China soared, Xinhua News reported yesterday, citing the country's auto industry regulator.

In May alone, 727,000 motorcycles were exported, up 45% year on year. The motorcycle exports in the January-May period are valued at $1.45 billion, up 35% year on year, said Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Thursday.

The top 10 motorcycle manufacturers by Jan-May exports are Chongqing Longxin, Chongqing Yinxiang , Chongqing Lifan, Guangzhou Haojin, Chongqing Zongshen, Nanjing JIncheng, Guangzhou Dayun , Chongqing Astronautic Bashan, Chongqing Jianshe and Jiangmen Dachangjiang. The 10 companies exported a combined 1.57 million motorcycles in the first five months, near 50% of the total.

Domestic sales of motorcycles in the first five months came to 11.7 million units, up 19% year on year, while production increased by 22% to 11.95 million units, according to the ministry.

The industry statistics also show that in the first five months, China's commercial buse sales reached 159,800 units, up 42% from a year earlier, with 34,300 units sold in May, up 39%.
