Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd.signed with Cummins Incorporation to introduce the technology for ISF series Euro VI engines in Beijing on June 9, which will make Foton the first Chinese auto maker to engage in Euro VI auto manufacturing.
Under the deal, an important part of Foton's 2020 development strategy, the company and Cummins will jointly develop Euro VI products for Aumark, SUP and MP-X models , which will enter the global market in 2013.
According to the development strategy, Foton is expected to produce 4 million units with an revenue over 400 billion yuan ($58.56 billion) in 2020, setting up overseas plants in Mexico, Brazil, India, Russia and Thailand, and entering North American, European and Japanese markets with progression in new energy cars development.
In 2009, Foton became the global leading commercial vehicles manufacturer. The auto giant sold 317,000 units for the first five months this year, up 34.6 percent year on year.
