Yokohama, Japan-based Nifco Inc. is building a new plastics factory in Central China’s Hubei province.
Nifco (Hubei) Co. Ltd. will be Nifco’s first presence in inland China, the auto supplier said in a release.
Located in the Gedian Economic and Technical Development Zone in Ezhou city, the business will be established in December. Production of plastic components is scheduled to start in mid-2011.
Nifco expects the facility to employ 110 by December 2011.
With a $7 million investment, the Hubei plant will be wholly owned by Nifco (Hong Kong) Ltd., a 100 percent subsidiary of Nifco Inc.
Since establishing its first Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai in 1996, the company has been expanding rapidly and now operates in seven locations – five of which are manufacturing facilities – in the country, mainly serving Japanese and Korean automakers there.
Toshihiko Terashima has been appointed the General Manager of the Hubei plant.
