Associated Press (Shanghai) - Chinese officials say Volvo Car Corp. plans a manufacturing base for the western Chinese city of Chengdu as it aims for expansion in the world's biggest market following its buyout by independent automaker Geely.

China's Chery Automobile said on Monday it aims to sell 5,000 cars in Australia this year, after the first shipments arrived on the weekend, and plans to double its outlets in the country within two years.
