Ranking the Yushu quake donations by China's carmakers

Shanghai, April 23 (Gasgoo.com) The 7.1-magnitude quake which struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu, in northwest China's Qinghai Province twice, April 14, 2010 morning, has left 2,183 dead, 84 missing and 12,135 injured, as of 17 p.m. April 21. Major carmakers in China have been reacting actively in donating money and goods to the earthquake stricken area, Yushu, to aid relief efforts for earthquake victims. The following are the details of some carmakers' donations so far.



No.1 Geely Group

Geely Group donated 22 million yuan ($3.2 million)to Yushu through the China Charity Federation.
 
No.2 BYD

BYD donated in the first time 20 mln yuan in cash and weather-resistant goods (including 1000 sets of quilts and 1000 cotton-padded clothes) to Yushu. Moreover, BYD's Qinghai Yangtong dealership (located in Xi'ning, the capital of Qinghai Province) immediately unloaded 60 sets of wheel jacks from the new cars and sent them to the stricken area at 9 p.m. the earthquake night. 

No.3 Toyota and its joint ventures

Toyota and its China joint ventures have made an initial pledge of 10 mln yuan to provide immediate recovery assistance through the Chinese Red Cross and other organizations. Among it, the FAW Toyota announced on April 15 that it would donate 5 mln yuan to Yushu, with 3 mln yuan to the Red Cross in Qinghai Province for quake relief efforts and another 2 mln for school reconstruction. The Guangzhou Toyota decided to provide 3 mln yuan (1mln yuan in cash and the Highlander vehicles equivalent to 2 mln yuan) to the stricken area. Additionally, the company announced on April 20 that it would donate another 2 mln yuan in cash, totaling 5 mln yuan).

No.4 FAW-VW

FAW-VW donated 6.5 mln yuan to Yushu.

No.5 Chery Auto

Chery Auto donated 10 Rely X52.0L cars, 30 Tiggo SUVs 1.8 and 7000 tents. Up to now, it has donated money and goods worth more than 6 mln yuan in total.

No.6 BAIC Group

Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., together with its three auto-making subsidiaries (Beijing Foton Automobile Co., Ltd., Beijing Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd.) is donating 3 mln yuan in cash and to provide MP-X cars and other vehicles to aid in the stricken area.

No.7 Dongfeng Nissan

Dongfeng Nissan is donating 6 X-Trail cars and relief goods worth 3 mln yuan in total.

No.8 Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Co. Ltd. together with its joint ventures (Dongfeng Citroen and Dongfeng Motor) donated 2 mln yuan in cash.

No.9 Haima

Haima decided to provide vehicles worth 2 mln yuan to Yushu.

No.10 Changan Ford Mazda

Changan Ford Mazda has announced its donation of 1.5 mln yuan to Yushu.

No.11 Beijing Hyundai

As of April 14, Beijing Hyundai's first batch of tents worth 1 mln yuan has been delivered to the stricken area through the China Charity Federation.

No.12 Guangzhou Honda

On the afternoon of April 14, Guangzhou Honda delivered tents, medicines and drinking water to Yushu. On April 16, the company together with its dealerships donated relief goods worth 2.5 mln yuan to the area.

No.13 GM

GM announced on April 15 that it would donate 1 mln yuan to Yushu through the China Red Cross.

No.14 Dongfeng Motor


Dongfeng Motor decided on April 14 to donate relief goods worth 1 mln yuan to Yushu. Besides, the "support team" for Dongfeng commercial vehicles and Dongfeng Warriors has also delivered emergency supplies to the area.

NO.15 Dongfeng Citroen

Dongfeng Citroen has donated 1 mln yuan in cash to Yushu and said it would provide further help according to the disaster conditions.

No.16 China Zhengzhou Yutong Bus

Zhengzhou Yutong Coach Manufacturing Co Ltd China donated 1 mln yuan in cash and goods, plus auto parts worth more than 200,000 yuan, to support the three squadrols in the stricken area.

No.17 China CAMC

China National Construction & Agricultural Machinery Imp./Exp. Corp. (CAMC) donated 700,000 yuan in cash.

No.18 South East Motor

Up to April 19, South East Motor had donated 600,000 yuan to Yushu.

No.19 BMW

BMW Warm-Heart Fund donated cotton-padded clothes, medicines and other relief materials worth 500,000 yuan to Yushu.

No. 20 Donlup Tire

Jiangsu's Sumitomo Rubber (Changshu) Co., Ltd. donated 200,000 yuan to Yushu, of which the headquarters of Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan Ltd. donated 150, 000 yuan.

No.21 SAIC-GM-Wuling

SAIC-GM-Wuling said it will establish the 100th Pok Oi Hospital Health Station in the Yushu County, Qinghai Province.

No.22 Great Wall

On April 20, Great Wall Motor donated 20 Great Wall vehicles to Yushu, which included 10 high-end Wingle pickups and 10 Hover H3 diesel version cars, worth about 2.2 mln yuan in total.

No.23 Changan SUZUKI

Changan SUZUKI Co. Ltd., in the Chongqing municipality, southwest China, donated 1 mln yuan to Yushu.

No.24 Denso

Denso Co. and Denso Co., China donated 10 mln yen (731,000 yuan) through the Red Cross.
