Sinotruk 2009 net profit up 9.5% to 964.6 mln yuan

Shanghai, March 24 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese truck-maker Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Ltd. (3808.HK) said yesterday that its 2009 net profit rose 9.5% on growing demand for commercial vehicles, Dow Jones reported.

The Hong Kong-listed unit of China's biggest heavy-duty truck maker, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, said its net profit for the whole year of 2009 stood at 964.6 million yuan ($141.2 mln), up from a net profit of 880.8 million yuan in 2008.

Sinotruk saw last year's revenue rise 4.7% to 27.22 billion yuan. The company will pay a final dividend of HK$0.06 a share for 2009. Net profit attributable to the parent group for last year was 427.9 million yuan, down 9.51%, sources said.

Ma Chunji, president of Sinotruk, has said that the company aims to realize 66 billion yuan in sales revenue by selling up to 150,000 vehicles this year. China's commercial vehicle sales last year rose 28.4% to 3.31 million units.

Last year, German truck maker MAN SE bought a 25% stake in Sinotruk for EUR560 million, in a deal that gave the Chinese truck maker access to MAN's advanced engine technology and helped it become a major truck exporter.
