Gasgoo Munich- The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) announced on the evening of March 11 that ZF plans to establish an electromechanical brake (EMB) production line in the district. During a symposium held that day, the WEDZ and ZF reached a consensus to accelerate the implementation of the EMB project, building on their existing strong partnership.

As a long-standing partner of the WEDZ, ZF has maintained a presence in the region since 2011, repeatedly increasing investment to deepen local operations.
In October 2025, ZF officially launched its new Wuhan automotive systems plant in the WEDZ, further expanding its local production capacity. The facility specifically ramped up output for electronic parking brake (EPB) calipers.

By using electronic control for parking braking, this system offers significant safety and convenience advantages over traditional mechanical handbrakes. ZF pioneered the technology globally in 1999 by integrating the motor and caliper; local production in China began in 2007. Now in its sixth generation, the EPB system stands as a landmark achievement in intelligent mechanical systems.
At the time, ZF revealed plans to introduce a production line for next-generation electromechanical braking (EMB) calipers at the new plant—a core component of brake-by-wire technology. Combining electric drive with mechanical braking, this advanced system promises higher efficiency, precision, and responsiveness.
The arrival of the EMB line underscores ZF's deepening commitment to the WEDZ and the Chinese market. It will also inject fresh momentum into the zone's drive to become a national automotive base and an industrial innovation corridor, accelerating the local industry's transition toward intelligence and electrification.
