Founded in Shanghai in 1997, Baolong Automotive focuses on tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), vehicle sensors, advanced driver-assistance systems, smart suspensions, and metal tubing. It ranks among China's top 100 auto suppliers and is a global leader in niche segments like TPMS, tire valves, and air suspensions. Chery Technology, established in 2001 with over 1.8 billion yuan in registered capital, acts as a key platform for Chery Group's parts innovation chain, with investments in 63 companies.
The new firm's focus on electronic components, IC design, and AI software aligns closely with Baolong's sensor and intelligent driving business—suggesting a push to strengthen in-house R&D and production of core components while securing supply chains. For its part, Chery is accelerating its intelligent EV transition, fueling strong demand for intelligent chassis and sensors across its lineup. The joint venture bridges upstream and downstream synergies and could advance the localized supply of critical automotive electronics.
As penetration rates for intelligent connected vehicles climb, co-developing electronic component and chip design capabilities between automakers and top-tier suppliers is becoming an industry norm. The Baolong-Chery tie-up could unlock fresh collaboration in intelligent chassis, domain controllers, and sensors.
