NEW YORK (AP) - The chief executive of BorgWarner Inc. said Thursday that he expects increasing global demand for the auto supplier's emissions products to fuel its sales through the coming years.
Timothy Manganello told analysts at the Wachovia Securities 2007 Nantucket Equity Conference that governments around the world continue to tighten their emissions standards, while automakers are also feeling pressure from drivers to boost fuel economy.
"Consumers now consider fuel economy the major factor in their buying decisions," Manganello said. "We now have technologies that offer practical solutions for fuel economy."
Manganello pointed to his company's product offerings of turbo chargers, which increase the power of fuel-efficient smaller engines.
Manganello also said that while other suppliers have struggled as a result of their dependancy on the three North American automakers, his company benefits from its growing global footprint.
