Geely Holding and Gree Electric Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement, Focusing on Cooperation in Automotive Electrification and Intelligence

Edited by Greg From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich- Geely Holding Group and Gree Electric formally sealed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on July 3. The pact centers on the auto industry's shift toward electrification, intelligence, and digitalization. By combining Geely's expertise in smart electric mobility and services with Gree's background in HVAC tech and smart manufacturing, the two companies plan to jointly develop in-vehicle smart hardware. Their collaboration will also span smart manufacturing supply chains, logistics and warehousing, the industrial internet, user ecosystems, smart transportation, and home appliances.

Geely Holding Rotating President Dai Qing and Gree Electric Executive Vice President Fang Xiangjian signed on behalf of their respective sides, with Geely Chairman Li Shufu and Gree Chairwoman Dong Mingzhu looking on.

On the sidelines of the event, Dong and her delegation toured Geely's Global Comprehensive Safety Center. The visit included stops at core facilities — from dummy and sled test labs to ADAS simulation and full-vehicle crash labs — where they watched a live crash test. Geely Auto Group Vice President Li Chuanhai, Chief Safety Technology Officer Zhou Dayong, and Volvo Car Asia Pacific R&D Vice President Per Edberg walked them through Geely's safety milestones, its "comprehensive safety" tech framework, and Volvo's safety philosophy. They also highlighted technical breakthroughs in smart safety architectures, high-strength vehicle bodies, and healthy cabin environments.

Dong voiced her approval of Geely's safety technology framework during the tour, noting that since cars serve people, safety must come first. Li, for his part, argued that automotive safety demands more than just lab simulations — it requires real-world validation across different seasons and geographic regions. That testing and traffic accident data, he added, will underpin the design of next-generation products.

Elsewhere, Li and Dong jointly presented awards to outstanding employees across Geely's business units for 2025, gifting them Gree's innovative tech products. Dong noted that Geely's purchase of Gree rice huskers to reward staff reflects a focus on healthy lifestyles. Li echoed the sentiment, calling employees the core of corporate development and stressing the need to cultivate a strong sense of belonging.

Geely opened the Global Comprehensive Safety Center last December, making it available to the entire industry. The facility handles multi-dimensional validation — covering active and passive safety, new-energy safety, health, and digital security. Going forward, Geely says it will keep pushing product upgrades, anchored by tech innovation and safety R&D.
