
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 7) - General Motors sold a total of 258,000 vehicles in China last month, Caijing reported earlier this week, citing an official announcement by the manufacturer. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 10.7 percent. GM's Chinese sales in the first three months of the year totaled 745,000 units, setting a new record for the manufacturer.
Between its Chinese joint ventures, Shanghai GM managed to finalize over 110,000 orders during the month, 10.5 percent higher than last March. SAIC-GM-Wuling, meanwhile, managed sales of 140,000 vehicles, growing 11.6 percent from last March. The FAW-GM JV, which specializes in commercial vehicles, sold a total of 7,400 vehicles.
The Chevrolet brand maintained strong performance into March, selling a total of 55,000 units during the month. The Malibu mid-size (pictured above) alone managed to bring in 4,289 orders for the manufacturer. GM China President and Managing Director Kevin E. Wale was very satisfied in the model's performance last month. Mr. Wale also specifically pointed out the Buick Excelle, Chevrolet Cruze and Cadillac SRX (pictured below) as other models which performed strongly.
